I am a photographer who also teaches at New Trier High School in Winnetka. Photography has been a life long passion, which began at 14 years old. I have continued to shoot and print throughout my tenure at New Trier.
Early in my career, I became interested in creating images based on architecture and landscapes. I then traveled to places such as Italy, Switzerland, and England, where the classical structures and the breathtaking countryside overwhelmed me. I had studied art and art history for so many years, but experiencing the Coliseum of Rome and the 150 foot waterfalls of Switzerland in person, was inspirational. To this end, I strive to create aesthetically interesting compositions that highlight Classical Antiquity in our modern times, as well as the beauty of the natural landscape surrounding our communities. For example, as I shoot, I notice the fragments of Roman architecture intertwined with our modern skyscrapers. In this manner, I hope viewers see classical Roman architecture in a new way. My travels have taken me to Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, The Carribbean Islands, Hawaii, Israel, and the U.S. East Coast. My passion is using light to capture the grand beauty of the natural world. I strive to highlight the smallest of details in each scene. I hope that through my images, viewers not only notice and appreciate these subtle points, but use my images as a mirror to explore beautiful details in themselves.
